#30 Unplanned Offseason

Where is PETA when you need them?

Hello, Digletts !

I believe that I have some explaining to do for my whereabouts over the past two weeks. Two Tuesdays ago was my last workout and it was a pretty good one in my opinion. I figure the workout can only be done for so long because the wonderful city of Morgantown is slowly, but surely destroying the arboretum. My workout was a 5 mile fartlek through the arboretum, climbing the arb hill six times. I did it once over the winter and barely averaged sub 9 minute pace; granted I wasn't working out and the trail was covered with snow and ice. I averaged 7:20 for the workout. Considering I crawled up the huge hill, I really got going on the rest of the loop. Over 5 miles I climbed almost 1,000 ft so it was a solid climb. Here are the statistics for anyone into such a thing:

If it weren't for my Rapa Nui's I doubt that I would have been able to go as quickly as I did. One of the two best traits to HOKA shoes are the fact that they allow me to fly down hills. I typically can't handle running down hills because it feels like my quads and knees are blowing out. If you have ever seen the episode of South Park where Kyle gets knee implants to play basketball, and they eventually blow out on him; that's what I feel like my knees are about to do. That's when I'm in non HOKAs. I don't feel a thing running down hills in my shoes and can get moving on any terrain in them. The best trait is the impact absorption. Which sort of goes in hand with the down hill running. I've run in HOKA for 21 miles and at no point felt the fatigue in my legs that I typically feel late into runs. For instance, usually after 20 miles my feet and knees typically begin to ache. At least with the HOKA that pain is minimizes and I only have to deal with the drained muscles. I picked an annoying time to get nicked because I just got my HOKAs. In due time, it'll be time to fly.

Now I made several mistakes in my training. From irrationally spiking my mileage or not coming close to my planned mileage; to half assing literally every aspect of my training aside from running. I was not hydrating properly. I was not resting enough. I was not eating correctly. I was not watching my weight. I feel like all of these small things won't provide any speed bumps, but together they start the perfect storm. The perfect storm that hurt my shin. For the past four weeks of my training I have run through the nagging pain. Then one day, last week, the pain didn't go away after the run. Or when I woke up the next day. It still hasn't gone away. I guess it has been a good year since I have gotten sidelined. Out with a stress fracture, or something eerily similar. My favorite. At least I have a boot from when I broke my foot. Well the boots older than that- it was born in the tent at USAs when Josh walked out of the medical tent with it as it held in his exploded foot. Josh has an injured back and naturally I followed his lead. I'm not saying I'm a follower, but when I follow... Except my back is too strong to break because of my years of terrible posture. So I cracked my shin instead. Back, shin, same thing. Don't you worry about us, we do plenty of that. And one positive- Last time both of us were injured we returned to the scene with pretty cool workout videos... That's right all you handful of Duke & Dick fans out there. I am saying that you can expect a 2nd season of us. FOX cancelled us like Family Guy so we are sure to be 10x hotter the second time around. Hence, my beard it like... way bigger now. So much wisdom and junk.

So, injured again I decided not to blog because I wasn't too happy about my situation. But my childish response to an injury ended sooner than it typically does. Usually I pretend like the entire sport no longer exists. The thing that bummed/bums me out the most is the fact that Run the Rut 50k is turning into a challenge just to finish. Seriously, I won't be running until the very end of August/ very beginning of September and the race is September 13th. This has happened before. My first trail marathon last August was also registered for well in advance. Then I got injured. Then I returned 3 weeks out from the race. Even though I was in nonexistent shape much like I will be this September, I still traveled out west to do the race. It was paid for so did it. Also, it is Montana! I would go out there just to camp. Which will be most of the trip. Last August I ran a 4:36 marathon, over an hour longer than any of my other trail marathons since. The sad part is I think my North Carolina was just as hard, maybe slightly easier than Wyoming. I went 3:34 I think. Virginia was a little quicker and only had one four mile climb. 3:12; next year I want to break 3 hours there. I am mad at myself for so many reasons, but the biggest is how I tiptoed through the running part of training in hopes of not getting hurt. Yet at the same time I got hurt because I failed to organize my training and do the little things. I was asking for this, but whatever.

Ready to turn those frowns upside down? Running was never the fun part of this blog anyways, or so I have heard from diglett echoes. This weekend I am going down to Canaan with the gang. There I will start daily entries toward another weekly blog and if you enjoyed everything aside from running, well you are in for a treat. I was talking to someone online and here is the exact dialogue that made me decide to hop back on here today:

Where's the latest blog!?
I hit a speedbump in my training. Out for awhile.
That sucks.
But the best part of your blogs is everything but the running.

So I guess I didn't hear that through echoes. It was pretty much in my grill. I think that's great. Running is boring to the majority of people. Granted the majority of people are boring to me. So strap on your Green Bay stupid helmet from Foreman's basement because here is everything that I have left out. (Zero Running below this point)

First off, there is no way this is being recalled in chronological order because my memory comes to me in an ADD fashion. But everything I'm sharing has happened since issue #29. If you couldn't decode the reasoning behind numbering my entries, I've picked up a comic book or two in my lifetime and treat this as such. Let's get this started with Mountainfest. Typically everything the radio says is dumb, especially the music, but for some reason I had the local radio on and they said People either love or hate Mountainfest. I think that's true. I certainly hate it. I like sleeping with my window open and the sound of motorcycles going through the night was annoying. Here's a throwback story for you- back to the day when I decided that I hated bikers. Josh and I are driving up 68, I say up because to Cooper's Rock you drive straight up, and these three bikers are going noticeable slower than me ahead in the right lane. As I approach them the guy in the back swerved into my lane and put his hand up like it was a damn school crossing. Slowed my roll as him and his fellow douches went around a slow car slightly quicker than that car was going. And it may be a bad thing to say, but if I nailed that guy that day I would have lost no sleep. I don't understand why the most vulnerable people on the roads act the most invincible. That's why I shut my mouth on runs. As stupid as the drivers are in this town I know that a car is going to win a fight against me running. Unless it's a prius. Anyways, bikers are lame. Except a few. As a kid I used to do poker runs with my dad and they were pretty cool. My only bad memory from the back of a bike is getting rained on. I cried because I was 8-9 and felt like I was being stoned by the townspeople. Over a decade later, I'd still cry in that situation.

Typical conversations at a bar with strangers.
The next time someone says that I'm to skinny I'm going to tell them the secret is crying. I cry eight pounds of tears a day, and eat the same in ice cream. Well the second half of that statement is close to true. I was sitting Blackbear with my friend and some lady started talking to us. She had take out already sitting in front of her, but had just ordered her second drink. If she wouldn't have thought that I was a biker here for Mountainfest I would have felt even more sorry for her. I think that's why she started talking to us, for sympathy. Marceline was convinced that she just wanted me. Could have been the case, but doubt it. She was picking up food for her 9 year old son because she's a single mom doing the best she can. He is in the stage where he just plays video games all the time, especially Minecraft. "That's a great stage" I told her because she said it like he was doing drugs. Video games trump real life 100% of the time except when something good happens in life. It's been my key to sanity since the beginning. There's no way a kid would be bored in my room for a weekend because I have too many awesome games lying around. I like it when Blackbear has live music, but don't like it when that live music plays. It looks cool, but is loud... I want to start a band that just stands around places like Blackbear and talks to people. I talk quietly as it is so I don't need loud noise forcing me to talk louder. I don't like using energy talking since I do it so often. If I talked as obnoxiously as a lot of ladies that I've encountered around here I'd honestly probably pass out. My mouth is running too often to turn the volume up. There are times to raise your voice.

I'd like to take this time to continue the Bert Tweet of the Week. Before I do that though, I found out a few days ago that ole bert may have been the first diglett ever. And yes, the grown man in that costume with the kid born in the same year as me is indeed... Me.

I could totally throw that club onto the highway.

Rewind a few days and change the scenery to Fairmont. I've taken this break to really crack down on the important things in life. Now I can not think of anything more important than one's ability on a miniature golf course. I have to take my practicing to Fairmont because Morgantown has 100+ scummy bars, 40 not free parking lots, a consist flow of broken PRTs (Hire more mechanics, like... Roller coaster tycoon 101, bro.), sixteen campuses evenly inconvenient and absolutely no mini golf courses. How this is rated highly as a 'party school' I'll never know. How can one party without missing putts and scaling the distance between Coal Country and i79 to decide whether or not to throw the club in that direction? Every campus I've been on says they're the top party school, except Princeton. They have other means of stroking their students egos to make their 1/4 million dollars feel better spent. This is the miniature golf anger talking. There are two parts to putt putt. Putting and Trash Talking. You can ask anyone that I've ever played against, oddly I've lost to the same cast of people. They will all tell you that I am second to none at the trash talk and second to most at the putting part. Yet I beg people to play with me. Win lose or lose I enjoy it.

Dream- One day I would love to have my own miniature golf palace. There will be 50 different holes all themed after an American state. My goal is to make the holes so offensive that no one will want to play their home state hole. For example, New York's hole will be a simple shot at first glance. Maybe have a little ski lift showing off the beautiful upstate scenery. Then when you shoot toward the hole a shoulder will barge out of nowhere and knock your ball back to the start while a nice gentleman yells Aye watch where yo goin! And I already have the finale hole figured out. Everyone gets a hole in one and there is no prize for it. Hole 50- Ohio. You tap the ball in to a giant black funnel and watch it roll around as rain pours down from sprinklers above and the ball eventually disappears into a black hole. Game over. Hope you enjoyed your round at Digem's American Putt Putt. Patent not pending.

Even though days have been better than the recent ones, one of the greatest things to ever happen to me occurred at the soccer complex in Fairmont. Same day as the miniature golf game. Man, that was a productive day. I'm sure by now everyone has seen this 4 second video that warms my heart:

While playing world cup with the cross guys this exact thing happened to my little sister. She was playing goalie and Jake blasted one off of the cross bar. The ball then smacked Kat in the face and went into the net. Now I was standing in just the perfect spot. I saw the ball hit post, hit her face, slight whiplash, and the delayed expression that comes when you get your bell rung. That along with the sound of the ball just clocking her was too much. It hurt so bad... for me. I crumbled to the ground in laughter and honestly thought I may die. If anything ever happens that is funny enough to make you fear for your life it's a great day. That's why there should be coed professional leagues in all contact sports. I would be a season football and basketball ticket holder if girls had to play too. Each seat would come with one of those teddy bears they give people to hold in the hospital for coughing after heart attacks. Except it'd be used to massage the stitches that come from laughter. Instead I will probably never attend a game of either sport. Unless Kevin Love goes to Cleveland. How can you not drive less than three hours to watch Uncle Drew and Wes play together? I'm not that mean though, if it weren't my sister I would have gotten up from the ground rather than roll a little. I mean, you have to show some respect.

Fair warning: Next week's blog is going to be epic in both length and quality. You may want to try to avoid reading as much throughout the week. Here are just a few highlights to look forward to:
  • Canaan Explorations
  • Passenger Show in Obamington DC.
  • Washington Nats game. Baseball Stadium #5 for me.
  • Pittsburgh Pirates game.
  • Chapter One of the tale of Kings of Post.
  • Miley Cyrus Bangerz Tour comes through Pittsburgh and I miss it???? :/
  • I go to the movies for the first time since Anchorman 2! Before that the previous time was Anchorman 2!

Here is a taste of what beautiful artist I'll be seeing next week. Seriously check this guy-

Here is a look forward to what you can half expect way into the future, but will be here in no time.

  • Mario Lemieux 6.6k in October. I may do this race because it was easy money last year, but honestly I probably won't because it'll be the 2nd annual and I assume the money is going to be harder to come by now. Especially considering my fitness won't be there yet.
  • Ohio Trail 20 miler in October. I'll do this regardless of my fitness because trail races are too fun to pass up whenever you can run. Road races suck though and I doubt I do another one in this lifetime if I'm not anticipating getting money. Well I do want to do road marathons, but that's different from road races in my opinion.
  • Run the Rut 50k 9/13... Wouldn't miss this for the world, but damn is it going to suck from a competitive standpoint. The triumvirate that signed up for it only has Travis remaining healthy. Josh and I will be lucky to finish the race coming off of our injuries. I'm 35% percent sure that I will injure myself again there. Not my shin, I'm sure that will be fine. I just see myself running to the peak and running over the peak like wile e. coyote and then lift my crap sign up before freefalling to Earth. Which will be great gopro footage for you Digletts.
  • New Years Eve in Columbus? Last year I spent the last day of the year in Pittsburgh. Wouldn't mind watching the Wild smack the Jackets around and then discover the night life in Columbus. Hopefully be on the receiving end of a RomanAtwood prank.
  • Minnesooota Vacation- This is way in the future, but I do have the last five home games for the Wild locked up and plan on spending twelve days in Minnesota watching those games. I have a few towns I want to visit on non game days. Tour de Minnesota likely solo, because that's the most effective way to travel. And I like doing my things. Maybe I'll go to Canada then, too. And by Maybe I mean there's a zero percent chance that will happen. I want my first non American trip to be somewhere cool.
It's been a few issues since I have asked for feedback, but Sherlock only has so many more episodes left unseen and I am dangerously close to watching all of that 70s show through in order once again. I'd appreciate any netflix suggestions. If I've seen it I'll let you know my thoughts on it. If I deny your suggestion I'll provide good reasons. Regardless, gimme something!
Last thing, injured time is the ideal time to get more ink. I'm not saying that I'm getting a 5th tattoo, but if I do in 2014 it will be soon. If you had to get one tattoo right now what would it be and why? I will see you all again Sunday August 10th! With plenty of footage and news to knock your socks off. I'd recommend just taking them off before you read. That's what I do with my pants when I write.
Last last thing, What's the best music video out there? I have to give my top two to Stan- Eminem and oddly Demons by Imagine Dragons. The song is alright, but the video is just awesome.
ONE LOVE!!!

    #29 Jungle Warfare

Hello Digletts! On here I always complain about being awake early. It's been my favorite complaint for years. Look at this guy! Does he look like someone who will ever grow out of hating mornings? The answer is no, I haven't. And yes, I've always been ruggedly handsome without even trying in the morning.

    Monday 7/7

Morning Run through town (6 miles) 44:56  7:29 pace

"Looks like training is gonna start early, ladies. I called you a lady to humiliate and demean you. It's a motivational tool we coaches use." -Legendary Coach SquarePants

I truly can't express the amount of fatigue felt in my legs on this morning's run. The picture of Gary the snail is a good illustration of what I looked like today. I slept luxuriously for five hours until 7:15 and was out the door with Adam soon after. Actually, last night at three in the morning there was a loud noise outside the window that jerked me and Hunter awake. We shared our looks of relief from my bed to my futon that the walls were still standing because it sounded like someone just dozed the house. Or as he put it-something about an alien ship. Even a few hours after the incident I forget how he said it. A peteeve, hybriding words now, of mine is when people get offended that I don't remember what they have told me. I remember everything! After being awake for an hour. Likewise, I can't remember anything anyone tells me within the first hour of my day. It's been this way forever, I'm not changing. The run was fine I suppose. A morning run can only be so nice. The best part of morning runs is the silence from the infidels. It's just too early for people to yell stupid things at you. If they are up with the sun, chances are they are not happy about it.  Here is what my room looks like most nights. Out for the count, I just happened to wake up first on this occasion.

I went to Barnes & Noble today to get the 8th-10th book in James Patterson's Alex Cross series for pops. He has quickly read the first seven and now is further along the storyline than I am. He loves it, I loved the first few books. I eventually felt like it got watered down, but I think that's the kind of reader I am. To know that there are 22 books in this series means Alex Cross is living for a lot of pages. There's no way I could not kill off a character for 22 books. I like not knowing the fate of the main character. And I like death. For that reason too many people have recommended game of thrones to me. Evidently the writer takes the other extreme and is constantly killing off the characters. But my friends Matt Parker and Trey Stone made game of thrones out to be nothing more than a montage of male genitalia so I probably won't get into that show/books. I did notice this new Kurt Vonnegut book while I was there. I sat down and read one of the short stories. When Mortals Sleep is the name of it I think. If I'm not mistaken it is a collection of short stories that weren't published in his lifetime. If you haven't read anything by Vonnegut... better late than never.

Evening Run from Terra Cafe (10 miles) 1:12:50  7:20 pace

Adam was with me for the first three miles before he turned around and Josh rode with me the entire way. I was vocal about not wanting to run faster than 7teens pace, but that was mostly because I didn't think that I could run faster than that. Yesterday's 23 mile trail run was equivalent to sticking my legs in a trash compacter. All last week I was logging 105 miles and pretty peppy about the entire week. I think that was because I had been going through the motions for the last year or so. Not that long, but it felt like forever since I structured my training. Totally worth it though because I feel like I haven't actually trained in a lifetime so it's exciting. On the way back to the car was miserable. Just a constant barrage of little bugs smacking me in the chest and face. I got so pissed and started bitching about anything I could think of. There was a perfect storm of eating bugs, dead legs, and sticky air that made me just sour. But you will have those days. Training isn't always fun. For me there are times when I hate it like today. But while I was angry I couldn't think of anything else I'd rather be doing. Running isn't always enjoyable, doesn't mean I don't enjoy the ride. Nothing is always enjoyable.

Speaking of things that I don't enjoy- I used to have this weakness to a gaming franchise called Call of Duty. Over recent years I have outgrown my rage quitting days, but then came along such a good Fifa game. This game makes me so happy at times. With that joy comes times where I want to put my head through a wall. And that should sound too absurd if you read the entry where I mentioned losing a game of fifa while playing on my belly and smacking my head on the ground, blacking out for a couple hours. Through all of my video gaming days, my friend Austin has been on the crazy roller coaster ride with me. Brought together by baseball a decade ago. Kept together by gaming such as what you are about to see. He was there in 2008 when Call of Duty World at War blanked my online rank rather than prestiging me an 8th time. When I broke the disc and xbox 360 on the spot. He was there when I got in trouble for taking a hotdog into center field. Ladies and gents, welcome to our world: the world of Pink Fury-

If you dig into FSHS archives you'll see this gem of the dynamic duo

     Tuesday 7/8

Evening Run from Aldi (10 miles)  1:06:35 6:39 pace

The original plan was to workout today. Only because historically I workout on Tuesday, not the biggest fan of change. The weather channel screwed me today and that's hilarious because I avidly try to avoid listening to those idiots. I wish I got paid to be wrong all of the time. I can make wrong predictions and be far more entertaining with it for the same salary they make. That's what I don't get, if you know you're full of shit and aren't going to be right why not make it fun? If I were a meteorologist I would make it so funny. Then at the end of every prediction I'd break into my disclaimer voice- your results may vary. Today lightning struck and the two pets downstairs both twitched too hard. The two pets being Cadence and myself. I proceeded to say hell with the workout since Mr. Weather Guy said it wasn't going to let up until 1am. I looked out at the downpour, both rain and light hail. 'Well I screwed today's running up' was the thought. Then around 6 the sun came out and I said that I would just do 10 miles before it downpoured again. Which it didn't do again until like 11:30. I only blame the weather because it's the easy way out. Chances are I wouldn't have worked out anyway. Travis killed me Sunday and I still feel every mile in my legs. Can't imagine doing that again in a sense Sunday.

I came across this picture of me and my best friend for life, Marshdawg, today. He was the coolest pooch ever. I spent a lot of the run reminiscing moments to myself and I'm going to share two funny things about Marshdawg. 1- gayest dog in the world. I have umpteen examples, but the thing I loved about him was when a guy friend of mine came over- he was all about it. Rubbing up on them, getting belly rubs. I don't think there was one female that ever petted him. Every time I would come inside with a girl he would just leave the room, disappointed. Another funny story was this one time I got back from a basketball game and I couldn't find him anywhere. Eventually I looked upstairs in my room and he had pried open my big tub of cheesy balls and ate them all. When he was done he couldn't get his head back out of the container. I like to think the struggle was brief before he accepted his fate. Luckily I saved the day. Okay, one more story since this is a blog about running. I decided to take him for a jog even though he was a basset and it was the worst mistake ever! He ran my old street in Fairmont like so many high school kids run cross country races. I mean once we hit the road it was on! He was skippin right along, ears grazing the road, and then we made it a good 300 meters before he stopped to what I assumed was use the restroom or sniff something. Nope. He plopped over on his side and just laid there with his tongue on the road. He got his shamelessness from me. A car came and I tried to move him, but he was having none of that. Eventually I had to scoop his big ass up and carry him back to the house. He proceeded to sleep for a solid day, the typical routine. I can't wait to get another basset.

    Wednesday 7/9

Afternoon Run through town (8 miles) 55:00 6:52 pace

Do I know how to double or what. I got lazy today and what was going to be my midweek long run turned into an 8 and 8 double day. I basically threw my daily plans into a hat and then pulled them out randomly. 3 days after the fact and my legs are still just absolutely thrashed. My general energy level as a whole feels down actually. I feel best when I am out running though. The rest of the day I have fogged goggles on and move very gingerly.

Night Run on Rail Trail + through town (8 miles) 1:00:20  7:32 pace

It's crazy how much slower everything is in the dark. I'm not sure if I have ever run fast in the dark. This run felt much better than the morning run and was a quicker course, yet much slower. I understand why that is though. The second I see my first bat of the night I go into full protection mode. Two winters ago a bat latched on to my shoulder and last summer a bat stuck to Josh's chest, no thank you. Lights go out, so does my care for running. Once it gets dark I'm just trying to make it back to my house. Yet I still plan out several runs to be done later in the evening. I have to give myself something to complain about. Hunter was with me on this run and we both did what you have to do before a night run- ate. He had taco bell probably five minutes before the start of the run and I was eating too. When my stomach starts growling before a run I think that if I don't eat prior to running then I'm going to pass out on the run and get eaten by bats. Nothing like settling in and playing some xbox with my hired critic-

    Thursday 7/10

    Fartlek (10 miles)

Today I decided to finally workout. I chose not to on Tuesday as you know. I returned to St. Francis for the first time in a long time. Though that middle school relocated years and years ago, I am going to continue to call the outdoor rec fields St. Francis. Morgantown has made a lot of changes since I began running around here and not one of them have benefited me. I'm convinced this town is out to sabotage my life. Which is okay with me because I have no long term ambitions with this town. Just a stepping stone. A stepping stone that is really far from the next available stones so I have to remain on this stone and think about my next move because between the stones lays hot lava. Or lays water deeper than 8 feet, both are equally lethal to me. Today was a trainwreck of a workout. Just a fartlek, tower hills, and fartlek but I only completed 2/3 of the workout. There are some days where I just don't eat enough for some reason. I love eating too. It was just one of those days where I spent the entire day spaced out and only had one bagel for breakfast. Before I knew it, time to warm up and didn't think twice until I started to workout. Up the hills I noticed that my arms were going numb, then I had that light headed sensation all over and pulled the plug. I still got my legs going a little, but far from successful workout. You'll have that. In my years of failed runs, I have acquired a quick memory. Or whatever the proper term would be for forgetting workouts, good or bad. Holding on to either more than the cool down is counter productive. Taking it all in stride. Would be a good name for this entry but I'm certain that I will have much harder knocks than this moving forward. So I will save that title for a later date. While on the subject, I am terrible at coming up with names most of the time for these things.

Here is what the old St. Francis looked like, when it was nice.
    Constantly Glistening

    Friday 7/11

In honor of my favorite person to follow on twitter:

    Bert Tweet of the Week

Afternoon run from Prickett's Fort (14 miles) 1:31:30 6:32 pace

Today's run was a slight improvement over yesterday. I think I just wasn't feeling well yesterday; dems da breaks. I enjoy the stretch of rail trail from Fairmont to Morgantown and that is where I went today. Turning around at 7 was annoying because it only takes 16/18 miles to get into morgantown and it always seems to cooler to run from one town to the other as opposed to half way and turning back.
After the run I finally got to use the Sandlot line- Way to go smalls, now we can't play! and it was sadly relevant. While playing soccer with the boys one of them booted the ball deep into the brush. I instantly yelled the line out. After ten valiant minutes of searching, no ball. So the game was over. I did take my sister's role as goalkeep. I am far worse of a goalie than she, but that's okay. Not too shaken up about it.

    My futon most nights.
Friday night didn't end until four hours into Saturday. Nothing too crazy just stayed up with Hunter shooting shit and messing around on the xbox, typical girls night. Around three in the morning he started into grammatical errors that irritate him and I realized that I didn't really have one. If people wanna talk dumb, good for em. I tried to rack my mind and brought up the only common mistake that I don't understand. I said everyone always uses it, too. Sure enough I logged onto Facebook and noticed the first post was another example of it. When people say I could care less seems weird to me. For instance- I could care less as to what Justin Bieber is up to. But what I really mean is there is nothing that care less about, thus I could not care less. I physically couldn't care any less as to what he does. In that example. Just something I never understood. Doesn't mean I'm right, but I am. Truth is relative. If you think it true, it's true to a degree.

    Saturday 7/12

    Morning Run (6 miles)

As I said yesterday didn't end until a few hours into today, so when this run kicked off at nine we were not moving any faster than your typical hobby jogger. Then we made our way back to Terra headquarters for awhile; allowing me to catch up on this entry. I've been hash slinging slacking. Next week I plan on going back to that arboretum loop workout. I think that I will be needing all of the climbing that I can get. Check out this latest picture from the Run the Rut 50k! It's only 2 months away.

    Evening Run (4 miles)

This run originally was going to be 8 miles, but plans change. So do people. But that couldn't be more irrelevant. I can't remember, but this may have been close to the longest run that I've had without a blank BAC. Poppa Simpson came to town on this, the second birthday of the corgi. We went over Varsity Club for the first time in way to long and couldn't have picked a better sports day to do so. I mean summer D- League basketball was on; prime time. Then we came back and Josh beat me around the ring in one of the Fight Nights that he just got for like 2$. It was funny though because he knocked me on my ass in each of the first three rounds yet I won those rounds according to the judge. Hell one judge had me winning the round I got knocked out in. And that is one of the many reasons why any sport that has referees or judging is nothing more than a game. Because at the end of the day, the athletes don't always decide the outcome. Thankfully running isn't a popularity contest. My reasoning for cutting the run and my mileage short is because my right shin has been on fire recently and I was running on a hardy meal. So I packed it in. I convinced myself it was cool because this week and last will still average out to 100 per week. And if it didn't, who cares. No one likes a mileage Nazi. Speaking of Nazi's, I totally predicted Germany would win the World Cup on espn. As for rest of my bracket- garbage. Can't believe Portugal let those muricans out of pool play. Once every four years I pretend that I give a damn about soccer. After today, you probably won't hear of the sport for awhile. So if you are reading this for soccer, see you in 2018!

    Sunday 7/13

Morning Trail Long Run @ Racoon Creek State Park, PA (10 miles)

Today was worst case scenario in several aspects. The humidity couldn't have been any worse, but you can work through that. The trails couldn't have been more overgrown, but you can work through that. Those two combined for Jungle Warfare and one of two things were going to happen. We were all going to trailblaze like no other(literally set the trails on fire) or we were going to crash and burn. The second happened. So what was supposed to be a 100 mile week has been bounced down to a 84 or 86, you can do that math I don't feel like adding it up. The one bright spot on this run was the shoes. My Hoka Rapa Nui's are heavenly and I am going to start wearing them more than just Sunday's now for the following simple reason- they feel 10x better than my other shoes. I've run in Josh's pair of Conquests as well which will be my next shoe investment. If you are anywhere near morgantown, Morgantown Running has both shoes in stock, but they have been flying off of the shelves. Run down there and get a pair before they are gone! Now for the play by play of today's decisive defeat I will turn it over to Travis and myself on this week's episode of Digem's Trails. Enjoy!
Let me know if you prefer commentary or music to these videos. Or both, but that's demanding.

Post run consisted of traveling to Weirton, the sliver of WV that separates Ohio and PA, and hanging out through a massive thunderstorm and watching the Deustch bring home their fourth World Cup! I am basically fluent in elementary German so... I'd be impressed. Then I returned home and edited the video so I could have it up tonight for the digletts!

    #28 Back On/Off The Wagon

    Welcome Digletts.
    #28 Back On/Off The Wagon

Only evidence of my existence at MO100

    Weekly Mileage - 105

I couldn't decide whether to call this entry back on or back off the wagon for two reasons that made me think more than I wanted to; so I improvised. I don't fully understand the saying first of all. The most common usage of the saying when I have heard it used has to do with an "alcoholic". When you start drinking again does that mean you are back off of the wagon? Because I feel like if you were on a wagon full of former drunks,  you'd be more likely to find a drink than if you were off of the wagon. And if being off the wagon means you're not drinking then I would say that being off of a wagon and left to your own devices...probably going to take a drink. I can argue any point of the saying because it's kind of dumb and I like arguing to argue about dumb things. Part two- I don't know if upping the seriousness in my training put me on or off of said wagon. Wagons are weak, I'm going to say that I am back on a stagecoach and you all are riding shotgun. So grab your gun and get ready to fend off bandits. Gonna take the Oregon Trail until we branch off and go to Montana this September. Don't worry, I logged a stupid amount of hours on Oregon Trail in my middle school computer lab and I would always make it to Oregon; I'd say a solid 50% of the passengers all made it, too.

    105 Mile Week

    Monday 6/30

Morning Run through town (6 miles) 42:37 7:06 pace

My favorite part about running at six in the morning is how little of the run that I am focused in on. It's the easiest way to add mileage without being awake. It takes 45-60 minutes for my mind to wake up after my eyes semi-open. It takes 30 minutes for my eyes to open in focus in on anything. The majority of this run went by before I realized what I was even doing; brilliant. My alarm went off at 5:55. Since I have little hair that doesn't want to play, blessed with a lovely body odor, and couldn't care less about appearance I was out the door by 6. You can be far more efficient with your time if you don't put so much effort into decorating your life. Wake up, transfer drool onto back of hand, pee, slide on shorts and socks, keep on the shirt you slept in, don't check the mirror, glass of water, go. If anyone ever finds me approachable on a morning run, that's the one. I don't know how to let you guys know when I'm laughing, but that last line was supposed to be funny. I really hope the day never comes when someone sees me see a burglary or murder on a morning run. I was thinking about that when my eyes were finally focusing. My vision is how I pictured the old man's glossed over eye was in the tell-tale heart. Someone could probably murder someone in front of me, turn to high five me, and then take off. When asked about the person of interest's appearance I'd be forced to say that he was really foggy and grey all over; just like everyone else. But seriously, after I started thinking about that, I felt like I could hear my heart beating from under the stairs and got scared. I think I just had a piphany. Epiphany? No, the piphany. One of my favorite dialogues between Mosby and Barney. The tell-tale heart was the first thing that I read and actually enjoyed it. That story started the entire journey. Which may explain some things.

Evening Run through town + Rail Trail (10 miles) 1:11:13 7:07 pace

This run was accompanied by Josh and Rhodes. As far as summer runs have gone, this one was pretty nice. I believe I only had one coat of sweat and the legs felt pretty good. I plan on doing a workout at some point tomorrow as well as a small run. I figure I will make a game time decision in the morning on whether I will workout in the morning or evening tomorrow. Regardless, it is going to happen. Nothing too strenuous, I am kind of feeling 8 miles on the tempo loop at 5:50 pace, but we will see. I had planned on doing core after this run, but you know how it goes: After two tall glasses of chocolate milk and a warm shower... I'm just going to lay down for a minute. Poof- 9:30 is now 1:30. I think I would have slept longer, but I saw a snake in my dream. SOB went right by my foot and if someone would have been at the foot of my bed they would have received a donkey kick as I woke up. Which reminded me of this time when I was awoken via a kiss from someone straddling me and socked em right in the jaw! Felt trapped, had it coming. Waking me is like waking a gentle yet skittish animal. On tonight's run Josh enlightened me that my on/off the wagon had been discussed on the show about nothing, but the most relevant show ever. I knew I wasn't original. Subconsciously bringing up Seinfeld on the reg.

    Tuesday 7/1

Morning Run through town (6 miles) 41:27  6:54 pace

I suppose technically my Tuesday started at 2 in the morning. Remember when I said that I crashed from 9:30-1:30? After lying in bed for awhile I realized that I wasn't falling back to sleep. Hell, 4 hours in one go is a solid night. My sleeping habits is like a compromise between the normal person and Kramer's 15 minute nap theory. Lazy man's Da Vinci's sleep schedule. Rather than 20 minute naps every three hours I take 4 hour naps 1-3 times a day. To continue boring you with sleep talk, I believe that I have the ability to fall directly into REM sleep (where you dream) and I lucid dream on almost a naply basis. Studies show that people with who only sleep once a night are less creative. So, fingers crossed. Anyways, here we are, 2am! I chose that time to do half of my core routine. Then I settled into my nest and let some creativity flow until I went back to sleep. My first run would come before I slept again. At the butt crack of dawn I was back out and ran a similar loop as the morning before. Similar in only distance though, the actual  course was completely different. While dying from heat on this run I started to think that I should have done my workout in the morning because it was only going to get hotter. But I had already committed to the agenda. No backing out now. Just kidding; you can always back out.

July 1st is a holiday from my and many NHL fans perspectives. Today is the first day of free agency and that means a frenzy of relocations for star players; it is seriously like Christmas morning! 2 years ago on July 4th the most patriotic event in recent time occurred, ironically, when Captain USA Zach Parise returned home to the Minnesota Wild and brought Captain America Ryan Suter with him. With Minnesota's only captain in franchise history- Mikko Koivu waiting for the duo, it felt like the Heat's Big 3 getting together except these guys aren't prima donna douche faces. Since then another Captain from Buffalo joined the force, Jason Pominville. And today the newest stud welcomed back into the state of hockey is Thomas Vanek! Vanek at the Disco, Home Ice Ad-Vanek! So happy that this year is my first of many to be a part of the Minnesota Wild family; barely. 11 game season ticket plan is the smallest investment I can make to gain access to the family. But I'm in! Thanks to center ice I haven't missed a Wild game since '08 and will be damned if I miss one this upcoming season. This year I would enjoy seeing them in a new arena as well. So far I have been to Pittsburgh, Smashville, and Columbus to watch them on the road. I'll return up the road to Pittsburgh to watch the Pens face off against a real team, but can't decide where else I'll go. I here MSG is a decent facility. Anyways, Welcome Aboard VANEK!

Evening Workout on Tempo Loop aka Backyard. 4 mile tempo- 5:58 5:47 5:58 6:02 (7 miles)

The plan was to do 8 miles on the loop, but as you can see above: wasn't a good day. It was almost a bad day. 86 degrees and 60% humidity on the loop felt like absolute death. Actually, by the end of the failed workout I was almost on my knees begging for death. But I stopped a few steps before it got to that. Don't feel too bad though, I willingly walked into this train wreck. Midway through my 3 mile warm up, I stopped at the house to switch into my flats and switch shirts because I was just absolutely drenched in sweat already. Running over seven minute pace. I used the tempo loop course, but went off of my garmin and like I said- almost died. I mentally stepped away from the workout during the 4th mile and thought that this was the weather that took lives of those who shouldn't be outside. I had no problems with my legs, which I shouldn't have at that pace, but my breathing was out of control. It was like someone was bearhugging me with a heated blanket and holding a bag over my head. I couldn't compose myself and once I was convinced that death would come before eight miles, I copped out. But I have decided to partake in the running store's 4 miler on the 4th. A slick race day singlet rather than a t shirt and a pair of shoes to the winner (me) is plenty of motive to go do it. I am down to work the race too. My job lies post race so I will just be sure that I'm first to the finish line and I won't miss a beat of volunteering. Also, I plan on taking everyone along for the race with my GOPRO. I'll pov the shit out of that race as well as the pre/post race. I got 5 less miles today than planned, which knocks me on pace for 96 miles. I'd be cool with that, but I also plan on sprinkling 5 extra miles in somewhere. As of right now I don't plan on doing a run aside from my Saturday workout, so maybe you'll see a 5 miler in the morning now. That or you'll hear the sound of settling.

Throughout the week I sat down and starting playing some NBA 2k14 again. It's been awhile. I picked up my career mode in my sophomore year season as Digem. It's my alter ego and in this world I am already an NBA Champion and the leader of the Memphis Grizzlies. I decided to piece together a highlight reel for you all from the games that I played this week. If you dig it, I could easily make more; it took almost no time. Say hello to Duke Digem-

    Wednesday 7/2

Mid Week Long Run through Fairmont (14 miles) 1:37:40 6:58 pace

I returned to Fairmont for my midweek long run. As of now I think Sunday's plan is to run from Fairmont to Morgantown on the rail trail for an 18 miler. On my run today I noticed that the old methodist church was completely torn down. They are building a CVS! It will go well with the CVS a kilometer down the same street as well as the Rite Aid in between the two. I suppose there are cons to living under a capitalistic dictatorship. The only memory I have from that church is going there for a pasta dinner in 2007 and having momma Haldeman's delicious pie for the first time in my life. It was so good that me and the rest of the boys took what we couldn't eat and hid from the girls team so we could eat it later. The sidewalk is fenced off while under construction which led to me mentioning it. I hate when the few sidewalks in Fairmont aren't available. The heat was overbearing again, but I'm totally to blame here. Running in the early afternoon is stupid and I won't make that mistake again for at least a few runs. After the run I staggered up the stairs and tried to cool down a little. An hour or so later I was found outside on the porch like this-
    Fast asleep.

    Thursday 7/3

Normal Run Down Junkyard and Rail Trail (10 miles) 1:06:37 6:40 pace

I knew today would be a good day when I stepped out of bed and planted my face on the ground. I can't explain what happened. I caught my foot on my box of springs and it was all downhill from there. Before the lone run of the day I went to Terra Cafe. Let me tell you their story. When Terra first opened up conveniently along the rail trail it was a sanctuary. Easily my favorite place in town for quite awhile. When I lived in the 6312 it was less than a kilometer away and that... that was pretty cool. When I moved close to Cheat Lake it was literally the furthest Morgantown establishment from my doorstep, but still I went there often. Typically just for coffee and to hang out; they always play the best music so it was a cool place to hang. Then they started serving beer so there was really no reason to go anywhere else in town. I don't know what happened. Maybe the owners were racking in too much money or just hate me but they started rarely being open. One morning I drove fifteen minutes into town on a Monday morning. Can't start a week off better than getting a Terra Blend and planning out your week. Closed on Mondays. They broke my heart and now we have a true love/hate relationship. I hate Terra Cafe because of their lack of hours being open and will continue to drag my feet forever before going inside. But once I'm in Terra I love it. Still one of the best spots in town, but can't be number one anymore; not with those hours. I need a place to always be there for me. That is why the two best places in the world are Taco Bell and Sheetz. With my living arrangement I am never too far from either paradise. If I had a dollar for every time one of those two establishments saved my morning/day/night I would spend those dollars on a 5 layer or a variety of crazy deliciousness at Sheetz. Anyways, I went to Terra prior to my run and caught up with Marceline. She's my favorite space cat and the only female that I have managed to be friends with for longer than two years. I'd have to consider her a sister since I build most of my family tree based on my relationships as opposed to bloodline.
As far as the run went, I think I had my terra blend too close to the run and it tried its best to run right through me. It's amazing what a slight drop in temperature can do for a run. Yesterday I felt great but had to battle the damn heat to run seven minute pace. It's hard to run when you are suffocating in the humidity. Today I dealt with an upset stomach and ran the entire run in cruise control. I had a good chuckle after the run when I looked at the pace. It felt slower than yesterday, but weather seems to be a bigger factor in my running than I'd like it to be. After the run I made a gourmet dinner for one. One day I am going to continue to make me very happy. Tell me if you have ever eaten better than this! --->

I realize why I face planted out of be this morning. The leader of the wolf pack woke up with a fractured sacrum. Josh has talked about how bad his back his been hurting. I guess eventually it cracked. Injury free since 2010 when he tore his plantar in half and continued to get 6th at USA Track Nationals because he's one of those people that you hope doesn't see his own blood in a fight; then it's game over for you. I believe that I can absorb more pain than most people. He can take pain and barrel through it. When I absorb pain I have to curl up and take the punches. I'm like Rocky up until he starts throwing punches. I can just take a lot of knocks. Don't care to dish any out. Anyways, that was my first step with papa wolf hurt and it didn't go well. But I think I will be fine. If I can find half of the motivation I had senior year of high school I can run by myself fine, just fine. Plus Adam and Chris come back Saturday and Rhodes is fine, just fine so I won't be alone too often. Everyone put Josh's sacrum in your prayers if you want. Regardless, I'm sure the healing process will be the same amount of time.

    Friday 7/4

         4 on the 4th from Morgantown Running (10 miles) 21:12 4 mile    510 537 549 436

I decided to test my gopro running with the chest harness. I really don't think I will run with it again. I definitely like the harness and plan on using it again; just not in a race. It was bulky and inconvenient. While running I was certain that the footage would be terrible as well. Trial and error I suppose. This morning consisted of several small runs. The warm up to the store took basically two miles- didn't feel great. Went one more mile before the race- felt worse. The actual 4 mile race- felt pretty bad. 3 mile cool down felt like my walk jog to the nearest aid station to wave my white ass flag to quit the Mohican 100 miler. All in all it was a good morning though. I knew going into the race that it was going to be a hard morning. I was dreading it because I know Aubrey Moskal is a beast and would run 520s low pace. And giving 100% effort right now I'm good for well, a 21:12 on that course. So if I was off a little bit I'd play baseball like a girl. After jogging over to the running store with the gopro on my chest I was pretty worried because it wasn't comfortable and I've had races blow up for less than a chest harness. I went to register and a local runner gal registered me, she was the only lady at my 21st birthday. I signed up as Duke Digem and she asked if I was making up a name. I pretended to get embarrassed and said that Duke Digem was actually my name and I just go by Dayton; totally bought it. I'm a way more confident liar than I am telling the truth. As I walked away I thought, damn I should have had the gopro on for that conversation. Stone cold man; always committed to the lies. Or else they'd get exposed as lies. Truth is what you make it. I won't give the race play by play until after the video. Let the suspense grow! You do have to understand one thing before you give the same complaints that I have given a hundred times already. The video quality is absolutely amazing, but the chest harness was terrible. You screw the camera in to the harness but you physically can't move the camera up any more than I did. Plus I believe that it wasn't screwed in tightly because almost instantly you see basically the road. I made the video as neat as I could, but it was all crap. The only reason I am even posting it is that I promised to do so to several people and I actually like the post race part of it a lot. If it were me, I'd fast forward through the running and go straight to the post race. If you decide to watch it all and can't take it, just shut your eyes. I put beautiful tunes to the running so it's enjoyable. Sunday's trail run will be different/better. So if you only watch one video, choose the next one from Sunday! I will say- this race was a lot harder than I wanted it to be. I didn't think I would have to run that hard to have a shot at winning. Enjoy, Digletts. I suffered with the chest harness fo you <3

Evening Run mostly on Rail Trail (7 miles) 53:18  7:36 pace
Prior to my run I received a challenge from Aubrey to another race. It will have to kick off really early in the morning because that's when I am weakest. Since I have seemed to dodge the half marathon distance she does have a much better half marathon PB than me. Also, her full marathon is better, but that's not valid until I debut on the roads this November. I will let the digletts know when I face/off against her again. Unless of course she beats me. In that case, you will never hear about this growing rivalry again. On this evening's run I had the lead wolf with me except he stood at least a foot taller than normal. Josh rode an elliptigo or something with me. Imagine if bicycle met an elliptical one night and both had too much to drink. One thing led to another, and two weeks later the elliptical realizes that it was carrying a little mistake. It decides to keep it and a few weeks later, because machines work faster than humans, a baby machine popped out. It has its daddy's wheels and handlebar, but has its momma's legs. That's how the elliptigo was born. And that's what Josh was on beside me on my sluggish evening run. It was one of those runs that I needed to do for mileage, but didn't really want to do.

In other news: Another resident of this house took home a 4th of July win all the way in his home state of Indiana. Adam won a local mile race in 4:25. Not 4:24, but still pretty darn quick. Here is his finishing picture. As you can tell, he destroyed the field.

    Diggin the intensity

Later that night I realized two things about Cadence the Corgi. She does not like cats or the sound of fireworks. A stupid cat, I could tell it was stupid because it was a cat, walked down our driveway and Cadence saw it and chased it back down the drive and across the street until we couldn't see her anymore. Then she came back all barrel-chested like she's something special. The fireworks didn't surprise me. She was born right after the 4th and last year we lived too far away from downtown to hear the fireworks so I think this was the first time she had heard them. I probably flipped shit when I first heard fireworks, too. The fireworks sounded neat from my room. I think I was grumpy because I planned on napping after the race, but our neighbors had the entire block over and were being loud and annoying. I guess our invite got lost in the mail. The ironic part is- the lady neighbor asked me if we were in a frat when I first moved in, yet she and the other neighbors are the annoying douche bags. There is a german sheppard two houses down that I call Dick and barks all the damn time. I only notice these things when I try to nap. I've recently concluded that having a dog would suck. Having a pet rules though; dogs and pets are not the same thing. The difference between the two is the intelligence in the owners.

    Saturday 7/5

Normal run from Aldi on rail trail (12 miles) 1:21:53  6:50 pace

I seemed to have got my biggest block of sleep for the week last night. I always prepare my bed the same way every night. Phone as far away as possible so that I can't be prematurely waken. And a notebook beside my pillow. I slept from 2:30 to 4am after getting abused by brother Charlie in Civilization V for a few hours. Then I woke and instantly grabbed my pen and wrote for almost an hour before falling to sleep until 2pm. Didn't wake up at all in between, very solid night/morning/afternoon of sleep. At some point in one of these weekly blogs I will share some of my Civ play because it is the greatest computer game ever.
What looked like a solo run quickly became a three man run when best friend Patrick and Adam came to town. Adam finally returned from Chicago/Indiana and Patrick was home for the weekend from Wheeling. We started the run from Aldi, arguably the best place to grocery shop in Morgantown, around seven in the evening and headed to the dam between Morgantown and Fairmont. The dam is almost exactly 5 miles away from Aldi and that's where we turned around. Pat had 10 miles to do and me and Adam just tacked on two more toward the Wharf District and back. One big difference in my runs when I consider myself training as opposed to just going through the motions is the end of runs. More specifically the end of runs that are my only run of the day. When I am going through the motions I will finish as slowly as I can because I am just trying to record miles. I still do this often while training. Today for no reason the last two miles were 5:53 and 5:45; still  conversational. I think it had a lot to do with the style in Adam's running. Considering we will be training a lot together in the coming months I am prepared for those final miles on normal runs to habitually be faster than the rest of the miles.
There's no easier way to catch up with Patrick than to go to our most common dining establishment in town- Cici's! I think recently a common conversation within cici's is the lack of understanding the fact that this restaurant seems to be out or going out of business everywhere. There is nothing like a pepperoni flip pizza, apple pie dessert pizza, cinnamon buns galore, and an assortment of other crazy pizzas all for 7.78. The only place that can compare to the amount of fullness I get for the price is the beloved Taco Taco Bell. And that's only if you know how to order cheaply to maximize the amount of burrito. taco taco. burrito. taco. taco taco you get. Don't think just because I got a lot of money, I'll give you taco-flavored kisses, honey. Fulfill all your wishes with my taco-flavored kisses. Sometimes when I think about Taco Bell I have to sing Taco-flavored kisses by the duo of J-Lo and E-Cart. Anyways, after the three of us stuffed ourselves full we got one more round of pizza because that's the Cici's way. Once uncomfortably full we waddled out and the magician behind the counter who has worked there for at least five years said "Thank you, CiCi ya later!" I like to think that he says that to hundreds of kids a day, because that place is always poppin; rightfully so. And none of them laugh or even smile. Says it to us three and we giggled the entire way to the car. I'm laughing now even thinking about it. "CiCi ya later!" instant classic. I'm easily entertained. With a nice big trail run tomorrow morning with my one uninjured Rut partner, I figured Cici's would be the perfect meal 12 hours beforehand. Carbo-loading like it's meant to be done.

    Sunday 7/6

Long Trail Run around Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania (23 miles) 3:19:40 8:40 pace 3260ft gained.

This morning was the first nice long trail run in awhile. Probably the second best trail run that I have had aside from the Conquer the Cove trail marathon. I would like to think it was largely due to the Hoka Rapa
Nui that I wore. It was my first long run in them and they were nothing short of magnificent. I doubt that I run in any other trail shoe for awhile. Not only do they feel like clouds, but over twenty three miles of climbing and dropping didn't tear my feet in two. For instance in my previous shoes, NB 110 v2 by mile 15 of trail running my feet were figuratively bleeding; occasionally literally bleeding. Nothing like surviving a long trail run with minimal damage to my feet. Travis and Patrick came along with me on this journey. Josh, Cadence, Karen, and Harper overtook the small town while we were out. Honestly, I am very happy with this run and I don't say that often about trail runs. Legs felt good even though we went 5 miles more than planned. 100 mile week- 105, same thing. No it's not! Those last five miles were very hard. I should have known that since Ohiopyle is my favorite place to run via rail trail that they would have my favorite off road trails as well. The weather was in our favor staying in the low 70s for the most part. I didn't carry any liquids. Luckily I want to say around 10.5 mi we found a little delicious source of spring water and took some of that in. Then back at tank at 14 mi I sipped 32 oz of powerade before heading back out into the woods. Then things got interesting. Patrick was lucky when he turned around at 15 and headed back to base because we got a little mixed up after that. That didn't come as a surprise to me because I was being guided by Travis. And Travis was recently on these exact trails killing a marathon when he got lost. I think we popped out on the rail trail right before 21 miles, and 2 miles from the car. Those miles on the rail trail were easily the worst miles of both this run and this long week. But that's running for ya; you feel good all day on the trails they will spit you out 2 miles from your destination and dump some nasty crap in your legs to make you suffer. The running gods are cruel gods. And that's me being nice, because they're listening. NOW for the moment you have all been waiting for- I promised a few days ago a cool video and I think the video is awesome! Join us on our trail run- it will be like running 23 miles yourself and in less than 7 minutes! Before or after you watch this video click the link to see all of the statistics of our run; specifically the elevation chart. But it also has splits, total elevation, a cool map. Enjoy, Digletts!
